5,000 to 6,000 Roma live in Izmir. In Izmir there are quarters such as Tepecik, where Roma live, there is Kuru Çay, with a lot of Roma, too, we live in Ballıkuyu. There are also Roma in Ikiçeşmelik, Karabağalar and Esentepe. Izmir has got many different Roma groups. There are "Kalajčîs", they make tinwork. There are "Čalgîčides", they make music, while we "Sepečides" weave baskets. There are the "Džambazi Roma", they trade, selling horses and donkeys. There are "Demirčides", they work iron. Six or seven different Roma groups live in Izmir.
